Soaring food prices everywhere has taken a terrific toll on everyone. In the UK bread, milk and eggs have climbed by 21%. Locally, the price of rice has also continued to climb, making grocery shopping quite painful on the pocket now.
Recently, when I moved offices to a location where food was hard to find, I started packing my own breakfast to work and was pleasantly surprised to see how much it was saving me!
Learn how I prepare a quick breakfast before running off to work after the jump!
Bread and eggs cost cheaper when you buy them raw and it takes hardly any time to prepare them quickly in the mornings. I usually pop 2 slices of bread into the toaster when I’m getting ready. Put an egg in to boil on the stove and by the time I’m done, my toast and eggs are ready to be packed into my tupperware to eat in the office.
Alternatively, if I happen to be up earlier, I sometimes prepare a hearty breakfast of oats which cost me hardly anything as a 1kg bag of oats lasts for ages. It is a healthy and fulfilling breakfast and sends me off to the office with a full tummy so I won’t get tempted by other more expensive food there such as nasi lemak!

Research has shown that eating a healthy breakfast provides you with energy and maintains weight loss. Home made breakfasts also tend to be healthier as we generally tend to control the oil and sugar we use.
Start packing your own breakfast from home or spending some time to have a quick breakfast before you leave the house and you’ll be surprised at how much you are saving in addition to having a healthier lifestyle!
Remember, it’s not about how much you earn but how much you can save!
